Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for improving halal tourism development in Sleman Regency through educational and economic aspects in 2025. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through literature studies, in-depth interviews, and field observations. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis techniques and triangulation to ensure the validity of findings. The results show that Sleman Regency has great potential in halal tourism development, supported by its strategic location in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Islamic cultural wealth, and adequate tourism infrastructure. However, there are challenges in terms of human resource quality, halal service standardization, and coordination among stakeholders. Recommended strategies include capacity building through training and certification programs, development of halal tourism education curriculum, strengthening digital infrastructure, and establishing sharia-based creative economy ecosystems. The implementation of these strategies is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Sleman Regency's halal tourism destinations, create new employment opportunities, and contribute to sustainable local economic growth. This research contributes to the development of halal tourism policies at the regional level and serves as a reference for similar studies in the future.
