Eksistensi dan Persepsi Mahasiswa UIN Gusdur Terhadap Perbankan Syariah: Pendekatan Bayani Burhani

Abstract
This research examines the existence of Islamic banking and the perceptions of UIN KH Abdurrahman Wahid students towards Islamic banking in the era of rapid development of Islamic banking in Indonesia. This research uses the Bayani (text-normative) and Burhani (ratio-empirical) epistemological approaches. This research also uses quantitative methods which involve student opinions through questionnaires, then using literature review. A total of 24 students from various study programs, semesters, ages, and genders were purposively selected as respondents. Data were analyzed descriptively after being collected through a quantitative questionnaire. The results showed that only 16.7% of respondents really understood the basic principles of Islamic banking, although all respondents claimed to be familiar with Islamic banking. As many as 74% of respondents considered Islamic banking services to be easily accessible, and 91.7% considered this system to be in accordance with Islamic principles. However, only 29.2% of respondents use these services, and 70.8% of respondents do not use them. Preference for conventional banks, limited access to services, and lack of literacy are the main reasons for the low usage of Islamic banking services. However, 87% of respondents expressed the possibility of switching to Islamic banks in the future. The results show that there is a gap between normative awareness and practical implementation in the utilization of Islamic banking. The Bayani and Burhani methods show how important it is to provide religious text-based education and rational approaches at the same time to improve literacy and increase Islamic financial inclusion among university students. To help students adopt the Islamic financial system more widely, this study suggests enhancing educational programs, digitizing services, and coordination between Islamic banks and campuses.
